Location

The City of Valdosta is located 16 miles north of the Georgia-Florida state line along Interstate 75. The south border of Lowndes County meets the Georgia-Florida state line. We are within a few hours’ drive of major metropolitan areas, including Jacksonville, Atlanta, Orlando, Tallahassee and more.

County Seat

The city of Valdosta is the county seat of Lowndes County. Lowndes County is home to five municipalities, including: City of Hahira, City of Valdosta, City of Remerton, City of Lake Park, and City of Dasher.

Finances

Valdosta-Lowndes County’s finances have weathered the economic downturn better than many and you’ll find security in knowing our community can continue to invest in what makes us great. The County has maintained a solid AA- rating from Standard and Poor’s, carries very little debt, and has set aside conservative reserves.
