Housing

Living well and investing wisely—Valdosta-Lowndes housing is doubly rewarding for buyers. Homes and neighborhoods offering diversity in personality and price insure the perfect match for you and your family, whether it’s a charming Victorian, a smart and smartly priced modern home, a lavish new lakefront address, or a sleek and fashionable loft in the heart of downtown. And wherever you decide to nest, it’s nice to know that while our housing costs are low (13.1% less than the national average), your nest egg of home value is steadfast in Valdosta-Lowndes: we were named 5th Highest MSA in the Nation in Property Value Retention in 2008 by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

A solid economy has been largely responsible for keeping our home values stable, but it’s also our view toward total quality and livability that makes our residents’ views brighter, as they enjoy options like high quality, gated rental properties and amenities such as our abundance of naturally beautiful outdoor and recreational spaces. More than 60% of Valdosta residents live within walking distance of a park.

Our three golfing communities are especially popular:

  • Stone Creek: Some twenty years ago, a noted team of architects and planners transformed a former cattle ranch into a residential paradise where today approximately 700 beautiful homes nestle against a bucolic backdrop including Lake Neva and an 18-hole golf course lined with moss-drenched live oaks and enlivened by just the right balance of challenge and playability. The golfing is great here, but so is the fishing. Although it’s located right off I-75, Stone Creek feels a world away.

  • Valdosta Country Club: For those who appreciate tradition, the easy rhythm and deep roots of the century-old club are irresistible. Sports (golf, tennis, swimming in the Olympic size pool) and socializing have always been the twin mainstays of this community, and with the Club’s family emphasis and continuing focus on improvements, living here feels as fresh and welcome as a cold glass of tea at the Plantation Grille after a rousing match or round.

  • Kinderlou Forest: While Kinderlou’s history reaches back to the early 1900s, today’s Kinderlou Forest is strictly up-to-the-minute luxury, a double-gated community offering both the expansiveness and excellence in homes and amenities attracting leaders from all walks of life. The standards here are uncompromising, in course construction as well as home construction: The Kinderlou golf course hosted the prestigious Web.com (formerly Nationwide) PGA tournament for several years.
